General Show Rules:
1. The show is open to everyone.
2. The show is open to all llamas, alpacas, and llama/alpaca crosses four months of age or older. In tact males over twenty-four months of age MUST be shown and handled at all times while on the fairgrounds by persons who are 18 years of age or older. No exceptions! Exhibitors breaking this rule will be asked to leave the fairgrounds immediately, and all entry fees and awards will be forfeited.
3. Only animals being entered in the show may be brought to the fairgrounds. An exception to this rule will be made for nursing cria. Nursing cria may accompany their mothers to the fairgrounds, but they may not accompany their mothers into the ring.
4. All animals will be inspected for signs of communicable disease. Any animal deemed unhealthy for any reason will not be allowed to be unloaded from the trailer and will not be allowed to participate in the show.
5. The Boone County Fairgrounds has designated manure pits. All exhibitors are required to clean up after their animal(s). Fenced relief areas will be available for those who wish to have their animals use them, but all exhibitors must clean up after their animal(s) whether they relieve themselves inside of or outside of the relief areas.
6. Boone County 4-H and the Boone County 4-H Lama Club and its members are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to any person, property, or animals.

Competitive Show: Showmanship, performance.

General Entry Fees:
$15.00 per animal, includes entry into any classes for which animal is eligible
$5.00 per exhibitor for Pre-Junior Or Introductory Classes.

Entry Fees for Boone County 4-H Lama Club members, family, volunteers, and alumni:
$10.00 per animal, includes entry into any classes for which animal is eligible

Free Participation to Supreme Showmanship Participants in one showmanship class

Stalling Fees:
$5.00 per stall for animals not enrolled in the Boone County 4-H Llama and Alpaca project. Open Show only exhibitors may use their own discretion as to how many animals to house per stall, or they may park in designated area and show out of their trailers. Exhibitors must provide their own bedding and clean stalls before departing from the fairgrounds.

Class Descriptions

Pre-Youth
– Under 5 Obstacle – An obstacle class for any exhibitor under 5 years old. Participant must be accompanied in the ring by an adult. This class will not be placed, but Participation Ribbons will be given to all exhibitors. Exhibitors in this class are not eligible to compete in any other classes.
– 5-9 Obstacle/PR – A combination of obstacle and public relation classes. This class is open to exhibitors 5 years old to 9 years old. This class will not be placed, but Participation Ribbons will be given to all exhibitors. Exhibitors in this class are not eligible to compete in any other classes.

-Introductory Class: An obstacle class for any exhibitor over the age of 9 who is brand new to showing lamas. Exhibitors with special needs can enter this class. This class will be placed. Exhibitors in this class are NOT eligible to compete in any other classes.

**Animals will be available for exhibitors in Pre-Junior and Introductory Classes. Please indicate on your entry form if you need to borrow an animal. If possible, please stop by the llama/alpaca stalls in the Horse Barn anytime Wednesday or Thursday evening to make arrangements to borrow an animal. You may also contact the show superintendent. Animals for Pre-Junior and Introductory Classes may be shared among exhibitors.**

**Any animal that is shared between exhibitors during the competitive portion of the show (Showmanship, Novice/Advanced Obstacle/PR/Pack) will NOT be eligible for overall Performance awards.**

**Animals entered after the July 24th Deadline will not be eligible for Overall Performance Awards**

Novice
• Novice Obstacle/PR – A combination of obstacle and public relation classes. This class is open to exhibitors whose lama has 3 or less years of experience. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
• Novice Pack – A pack class open to any exhibitor whose lama has 3 or less years of experience. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.

Advanced
• Advanced Obstacle/PR – A combination of obstacle and public relation requirements. This class is open to exhibitors whose lama has 4 or more years of experience. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
• Advanced Pack – A pack class open to any exhibitor whose lama has 4 or more years of experience. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.

* Special Note: Exhibitors ages 7-9 may choose to enter the “Pre-Junior 5-9 obstacle class (as their only class), or they may choose to complete in the 7-9 showmanship class along with Novice/Advanced Obstacle/PR, and Pack classes. This is done so that youth who show in ILR/ALSA classes may choose to enter more classes, while other exhibitors who may not be ready for multiple classes still have an obstacle course to complete.

Showmanship
•Showmanship 7-9 year olds – A Showmanship Class specifically for exhibitors 7 years old to 9 years old. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly
• Showmanship 10– 13 year olds – A Showmanship Class specifically for exhibitors 10 years old to 13 years old. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
• Showmanship 14 – 18 year olds – A Showmanship Class specifically for exhibitors 14 years old to 18 years old. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
• Adult Showmanship – A Showmanship Class specifically for adult exhibitors. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.

Fun Classes
• Costume – A costume class open to individual or group exhibitors. Exhibitors are required to provide a story or music to go along with their theme. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
• Ground Driving – Ground driving is open to lamas of any age. Lamas will be directed through a course by their exhibitor using a driving harness. Ground driving only; no cart driving. Exhibitors will be judged and placed accordingly.
