Persons selected for state fair entries, will compete in the appropriate age division as specified by the Indiana State Fair. If there are different age groups in one act, then majority of ages will determine age group. No dance or stage bands are accepted in this contest. No baton twirling, cheerleader (s), or trampoline acts will be allowed in this contest.  No fire, dry ice, fog, machetes or sharp instruments will be allowed on stage. Language and actions must be appropriate.  Those who have signed contracts for pay will be ineligible.  The Talent Contest will be divided into three (3) age groups:  12 & under (Jr. Division); ages 13-21 (Sr. Division); and ages 22 & over (Adult Division).  The rule on this age is anyone that is 12 in the calendar year of 2016 will be in the Jr. Division.  Anyone that will be 13 in the calendar year 2016 will be allowed to compete in the Sr. Division.  If there are different age groups in one act, then the majority of the ages will determine the age group.  No one older than 14 may compete in the Jr. Division.

     Acts are to have no more than 8 performers. Acts requiring music should bring their own equipment, instruments and accompanist.  A piano will be available.  If using a recorded song (tape, CD or digital), only the performance song is allowed.  If using a digital device, the device must be unlocked and the cellular data, Wi-Fi, etc. must be turned off so there is no interference during the performance. Maximum time allotted is THREE (3) MINUTES.  Judging will be based on the following: Personality & Poise, Execution & Originality, Rhythm & Sound, Costume, General Impression.  Acts include: Dance: Solo or Group; Novelty: Solo or Group (magicians, comedy acts, drama, jugglers, public speaking, other); Vocal: Solo or Group; Tumbling (Free-Style only): Solo or Group; Instrumental: Solo or Group; Clogging: Solo or Group.

     Placings in each age group will include a champion trophy, 1st and 2nd place ribbons, and participation ribbons to all other entries.

      All entries must be turned into the Extension Office by Monday, July 17th. No entries will be accepted after this time. Contestants must be residents of Boone County. A maximum of only 25 acts will be accepted.

     Talent contest winners may qualify to participate in the Indiana State Fair Contest.   There is no fee or cost to enter the Boone County Talent Contest only if the participant is chosen to go to the State Contest is there a fee.

Registration Forms are due to the Boone County Extension Office by July 17, 2017.
